Customer Rating: Summary: my fat c*ck Comment: (...) triggers so many deeply felt emotions, cuz emotions that's really what we are talking A-bout here, ok? Right, emotions (not self-induced btw) it will be. Pink Floyd are amongst the most elaborate, albeit severely contrived, music ensembles. Emotions are in the music of Bruce 'The man' Springsteen and Prince Rogers Nelson, although some well-fondled emotions are also to be found in Barry Manilow and Rolling Stones CDs and The Pineapple Yardship (UK psych 1966) and Milton (1976 post-psych from...yeah, Namibia)
Pink Floyd fail to chart, instead they are to be forgotten flushers

Customer Rating: Summary: a hairless dog??? yes that's what it is!! Comment: Hello I would like to share my underlying testimony about this PF CD.
I must say yeah, the guitarwork is well kind of epic but it is rather pointless given that john mayal and the blockbusters had more of the same.
The lyrics are beyond comprehension even to a kid with an IQ of 180.
why then are they beyond comprehension I hear you think?
Well off course because there were never lyrics more pointless than these
cheapish campfire sentiments.
All in all this cd ranks amongst the lowest I ever heard.
It truly is a hairless dog.

Wish You Were Here is a song cycle dedicated to Pink Floyd's original frontman, Syd Barrett, who'd flamed out years before: two grimly funny songs about the evils of the music business ("By the way, which one's Pink?"), and two long, touching ones about the band's vanished friend. The real star of the show, though, is the production: sparkling, convoluted, designed to sound deeply oh-wow under the influence--and pretty great sober too--with David Gilmour getting lots of space for his most lyrical guitar playing ever. And, though the album is big and ambitious, even bombastic, it somehow dodges being pretentious--the Barrett tributes are honest and heartfelt, beneath all the grand gestures and stereophonic trickery. --Douglas Wolk
