As I Lay Dying - Comment on Winning "Artist of the Year" Award

Here is the comment, taken from the official As I Lay Dying site:

"As I Lay Dying just won the Artist of the Year award at this year's San Diego Music Awards. We can't lie....this comes as a total surprise to us, especially when you consider the tough competition we were up against. But then again, considering the award was voted on by you the fans, and considering that As I Lay Dying has the best fans in the world, maybe it's not a surprise after all. Thanks to all of you for the love and support you have given us. As always, we couldn't do it without you.....Love AILD"

Interview With Fear Factory Drummer

In an interview recently posted at Metal Temple magazine Raymond Herrera, the drummer of Fear Factory spoke about the participation of Faith No More bassist Billy Gould on the band’s brand new album, "Transgression" and other things. Here’s an excerpt:

- Metal Temple: There’s a list of all star musician cameos who contributed to the new album and a couple of cover songs. How did you get the idea for that?

- Raymond Herrera: "The only real person we got was Billy Gould from Faith No More. It was my idea to bring Billy in. We’ve been friends for like 8 years now. We had a side project for a few years and we have a record label too. I keep in touch with him all the time. When Christian [Olde Wolbers - guitarist] said he wanted to bring, in his words 'a real bass player in', and I was like 'uh, ok, a real bass player huh?' I mean that just sounded funny, it’s like me saying I want to bring a real drummer in. But he didn’t mean it like that, he meant someone that would maybe flow a little bit differently around songs and that are maybe a little bit more open. So Christian wanted Billy to play on 'Supernova' and this other song maybe if there was enough time called 'Echoes Of My Scream'.

So I called Billy up and I told him 'Hey, I’m gonna send you some of these mp3s and I want you to check these songs out, but they’re really, really rough.' So he was like 'Yeah send me the tracks.' So we did, and a couple of days later he already put bass tracks onto Pro-Tools and sent it back and we were like 'Yeah this sounds great.' So, he flew in and he did rehearsals with us for like 2 or 3 days and then he came back to the studio to nail the tracks out. Then Phil Demmel [guitarist] from Machine Head came in to kind of tutor Christian a little bit on the solos and stuff because Christian was like 'I gotta play a solo on this record'. He did a couple of them and then that was it."

New Hammerfall Album Scheduled

The Swedish band Hammerfall has announced their next album on their official homepage:

"The U.S. tour is over, and it was very good for us in a lot of ways. North Americans definitely surprised me with their heavy metal knowledge and unbelievable devotion. Some people travelled to more than one show, others drove fifteen hours to get to where the action was; fans spending over ten hours on the road to see the show was not unusual. Very flattering, and we tried to give back by delivering the best show we possibly could, as well as spending time chatting to people after the gigs. On behalf of the band, I'd like to thank everyone who came to the concerts, as well as Edguy and Into Eternity for doing this with us. It truly was a blast, and I hope it won't take another three years until we see each other again. Cheers!

Now, the members of the band are enjoying some well-deserved time off from touring, before it all begins again in the end of October. The Swedish dates on the tour are now booked and confirmed, and reads as follows:

October 30th: Skycom Arena, Umea
November 2nd: Annexet, Stockholm

Tickets available at www.ticnet.se, as usual. This marks the last time HammerFall will perform on Swedish soil for over a year - that goes for the whole tour, for that matter, so don't miss Hammerfall vs Stratovarius, coming to your country in October, November and December. For complete touring plans check out the tour section elsewhere on the page.

Lastly, we have reached an agreement with Charlie Bauerfeind, who worked with us on the last to albums, to produce also the next one. Recordings are set to begin in May 2006, with a scheduled release in October that same year. More info on this as things proceed. Cheers!"

Sepultura: View Pictures And Video From The Studio

This was posted at the official Sepultura website:

"Sepultura enters the third week of recordings. Last week Andreas started recording the rythm guitar tracks. Two tracks for each song, using different guitars.

The songs, with no vocals yet, start to get the sound and shape we'll hear on the album. We can identify some new stuff and influences in Sepultura's music. Sepultura won't let you down, that's for sure.

This week Andreas will finish his part and later on, Paulo will get in the studio to record the bass lines."

You can view the pictures from the studio here and the video here.

The Black Dahlia Murder: Will Come To Europe Next Year

This message was posted at the myspace.com page of the band:

"for all of you Euro's that messaged last night in a fit of rage, we are coming over to the UK and the Mainland in January/Febuary 2006. We do not have all the dates for you as of yet, but rest assured that you will know as soon as we do.

To all you ausies on the other side of the earth, we wanted to try and come over in december since we are already planning on doing a couple of dates in japan. unfortunately the people we work with downunder don't feel we've done enough albums down there yet to feel comfortable spending money to bring us. the idea is to try and make it happen in spring of 2006, but in order to do this we need to turn some more people on to the sounds. This is where we are gonna need your guys' help. if you know anyone that you think might dig what we're doing, please get them on the wagon. trust me, we want to see your country much more than you wanna see us play, so let's make it happen.

i think that's about it for now. we'll be keeping you posted."

Theatre Of Tragedy Sign With AFM Records

This is the post at the offiial Theatre Of Tragedy website about it:

"Following an extended period of silence, speculation and uncertainty, the band is now pleased to announce their joining with AFM Records/Soulfood Distribution.

The band already start the recording next week, and a release is scheduled for 24th of March 2006.

The new album will be recorded at Toproom studio, which has previously hosted such acts as MAYHEM, EXTOL and TRISTANIA to name but a few.

The style of the new material could be regarded as the natural follow-up to the Aegis album, with the rough edge of contemporary rock, spiked with occasional electronic shrapnel, but with a generally
darker atmosphere than has been the case for the past two albums. And for thoseof you still not aware, this will be the first album featuring the new female singer Nell, whose voice has added a new passion to the band's sound."

You can see a picture from the signing at this location.
